what is your experience related to college admissions?
I've seen hundreds of college and scholarship applications and discussed them with admissions officers, so I have a good sense of what works and doesn't work for admissions and scholarships. For twenty years before that, I was a college English professor and department head. In that job I worked with students writing daily and I served on university admissions and scholarship committees.
how many students have your worked with?
I typically work with just twenty or thirty clients in a year so they can receive my full attention. I opened my business in January 2019, so I’ve only worked in total with around sixty students.
do you belong to any professional associations?
do you visit college campuses & meet with admissions counselors?
No. Only 20% of Independent Admissions Counselors belong to a professional association. I attend conventions for admissions counselors and large college fairs. Despite not belonging to a professional association, I maintain close working ties with other consultants, and work with PrepU in Boston, WorldStarsEdu in China, and WritersQi in India
Yes; this is an important part of my practice. While travel has been drastically cut during COVID, I typically spend time each month traveling to colleges and taking the student tours as well as speaking with admissions staff. I also attend large college fairs so I can speak to many admissions officers at once.
